Who Is She?

I thought it was only right that I’d give you the detail on the person behind SKN/TALK – Me!

This will be an evolving post, so as I get more questions via my social media channels, I will update the post accordingly.

What does your name mean?

First Name – Goodness, Surname – Mountain, I kid you not!


What is your heritage?

My family is from Nigeria.


How old are you? 

25 years old.


Where did I study?

University of Liverpool, UK


Why did you choose to become a doctor?

I’ve always been such a science nerd, especially in biology. I have memories from childhood of going the library get finding as many books as I could on the solar system or even the formation of rocks. I guess this was simply a reflection of my curiosity..my constant need to find out how things work and why they are, the way they are! I was always that kid that overanalysed EVERYTHING!

Before heading off to college to do my A-levels, a close family member became quite seriously ill. This pushed me into the direction of using my passion for science to help people. As cliché as it sounds, I just knew that when I look back on my life, I want to know that I’ve made a real difference to someone’s life. I feel like a great doctor is something you’ll never forget in your time of need.



What skincare products do you use?

I think this requires a blog post in itself! My mainstay for skincare is a solid selection of medical grade products. Medical grade products typically contain a high or prescription strength qualities of active ingredients (i.e. vitamin c, vitamin a, salicylic acid etc.). My favourite products currently include Nu-Derm System by Obagi, Skinceuticals Hyaluronic Acid Intensifier, Skinceuticals Brightening UV Defense SPF and Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser. I’ve included a slide reel at the bottom of products you can find in my bathroom.


What’s your worst habit?
Having a conversation about multiple things at once. I guess that just reflects my thought process!


What’s your favourite thing to eat?
My mum’s cooking – specifically jollof rice, mixed pepper sauce with homemade coleslaw and chicken wings.


Describe yourself in 3 words?
Creative. Excitable. Determined.


What was your last watched TV show?
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit! Olivia Benson is my spirit animal.



If you’ve had any work done and what?

Yes! Could you tell? I’ve had sprinklings of botox and filler here and there. I believe in using non-surgical therapies (i.e. botox and dermal filler), to make you look like the better version of yourself. I always go for a natural look. However, I think it would be more fun if you guess what treatments I’ve had done!

Whereabouts in London are you from?

I was born in Canning Town – long before it started to become gentrified. I was then raised up in Stratford, and I currently live in Canary Wharf.


What is your favourite colour?


Are you a collector of anything?
Designer handbags, shoes and beauty products.


Biggest extravagance?

Chanel WOC in black caviar leather.


Favourite shop?

Liberty! Liberty has such a unique and intimate shopping experience, unlike many of the other premium department stores.


What do you always have with you/on you at work?

Lip balm! Dry lips aren’t cute. I’m one of those people who have a different lip balm in each handbag and location (i.e. my car, bedroom, living room)


What are you reading right now?
I’m currently reading two books. The first being, ‘The Success Principles’ by Jack Canfield, was recommended to me by my friend Gillian. I also have ‘The Working Woman’s Handbook’ by Phoebe Lovatt on rotation.


Who is your hero?
My mum. She’s everything a woman should be. Beautiful. Strong. Assertive. Intelligent…and hilarious!


Best piece of advice you’ve been given?

Live life to the fullest

How do you juggle your jobs?

Well, I think the first question I should answer is what do I do exactly! So, I’m an NHS medical doctor (currently working within general surgery), cosmetic doctor, entrepreneur (does that sound cringe? Seems like everyone is an entrepreneur these days..) and now a blogger too. Regarding how I juggle all these hats…sadly there’s no magic answer. I just do! I am an absolute workaholic – because I’m so passionate about what I do, it doesn’t really feel like work. It also means I have to be super organised, constantly motivated and be able to multitask! Oh and not have much of an exciting social life!


If you weren’t a doctor, what else would you be?

Architect! I love creating things so I think designing buildings and landscapes would be a perfect avenue for that.



What an average day looks like for you?

I never really have an average day. It varies! I just somehow manage to flow along with the madness that life brings.

6.45am – Wake up

6.50am – Sit on the toilet and check my phone, emails, Instagram etc for 10 minutes or so.

7.10 am – I suddenly realised that I’ve managed to spend 20 minutes on the toilet with my phone!

7.10 am – Mad dash into the shower. I get ready for hospital wearing anything that looks relatively presentable, comfortable and ironed. I never wear make-up. Too much effort and time for me! A good morning skincare face is a must though.

8 am – Arrive at work. Ward round – a face-to-face review of patients done by doctors every day, typically in the morning. During the working day, I’ll manage patients pre and post-operatively, assist in the operating theatre if needed and speak to families. I’ll catch up with my emails, messages during my breaks

5.30pm – I’ll usually finish at 5.30 pm, but sometimes I work a 12/13 hour shift, ending at 9 pm.

6 pm – Arrive at home. I often have a snack and nap. One of my life joys is sleeping! It’s my favourite pastime. I’ll rest for an hour or two.

8 pm – Work on SKNDOCTOR, SKNTALK and general life administration till midnight. If I want a bit of downtime, I’ll read a book or listen to a podcast with a glass of wine. Once I remember that I’m hungry, I’ll have dinner cooking in the background.

12 pm – Sleep.
